Welcome to a new year at Greenhithe Football Club!
Registrations are now open for the upcoming season, and we have lots planned to ensure 2025 is a fantastic one for our Junior players.
Next month we will be holding open training sessions for those keen to try out for a development squad. Each grade U9-U12 has both social and development teams; all have games on Saturdays, but social teams train once a week, while development players have two sessions, including skills training with professional coaches. Our development programme helps the kids perform to a standard whereby they are competing against the top teams in the area. Last year it led to success for GFC at a number of tournaments – including a win at the Northern Rovers Football Festival, and a finals place at the Clarrie Morgan, where we played the best teams in the upper North Island.
Each age group has two open training sessions, see details below. These are for both the mixed teams and the girls-only squads. Those keen to try out should aim to attend both, but if your child can only be there for one, just let us know. To ensure a smooth process on the day, please turn up five minutes early with boots, shinpads and a water bottle.
Please register your player for the season beforehand so we have their details and can assign them to a team: registrations.greenhithefootball.org/
NB Social players do not need to attend these sessions.

Following these open training sessions the coaches will make a decision on team allocation, and you will be advised by email. Teams will begin training at the end of term 1, ahead of season start on April 5 – please note that, unlike in previous years, there will be two games before the Easter break. In the first few weeks of training we may make some minor adjustments, to ensure best fit for both player and squad. If your child is invited to play in a development team the professional skills sessions are compulsory, and there is a cost associated.
We are always looking for support, so if you are able to be involved with your child's journey at the club, as a coach, co-coach, manager or some other function, please get in touch with our volunteer junior coordinators Phil and Cath: [email protected]
For any enquiries specific to girls and women's football, please drop a line to Keith [email protected]
We’re looking forward to a great season!
